This seasonally wet project site is best described as a Coastal Upland/Pine Flatwoods adjacent to a salt marsh area. The objective of the homeowner was to provide a sense of place by the use of pine trees and native plants. She was raised in St. Petersburg and wanted the yard to look like Pinellas County should. Objectives also included enhancing wildlife attraction and benefit as well as to provide some buffer from the house to the street. Generous turf space provides room for the family's children.

Plants used in the landscape include Beach Sunflower (in raised planters), Rosinweed, Trailing Porterweed, Scarlet Sage, Sunshine Mimosa, Shiny Coffee, Jamaica Caper, South Florida Slash Pines, Horizontal Cocoplum, Dwarf Fakahatchee Grass, Redbay, Simpson Stopper, Saw Palmetto, Muhly Grass, Elliott Love Grass, and Coontie.
