Bird of Paradise, Strelitzia sp. is a very popular tropical plant used for a tropical accent or specimen plant in landscapes. The 'Orange' Bird has paddle like leaves are held on long stalks and collectively, create a cluster of leaves that can be up to 6 feet in height and spread. 'White' Birds can grow up to 20ft and produce white flowers. Care should be given to place Birds of Paradise in strong sun to encourage blooming and enough space to reach it's mature size. The orange blooms are exotic looking and give the plant it's namesake. Birds of Paradise are heavy feeders and can require a great deal of attention as mature plants to keep them groomed and attractive.
