Mamey Sapote, Pouteria sapota is a medium growing fruiting tree native to Mexico and the Central American lowlands. It grows to about 40' in height and width in Florida, and grow best in well-drained soils. They are not tolerant of freezing temperatures, so they are best planted with winter weather in mind. 'Magana' typically fruits in early summer, and are slow to mature; howver they must be picked at maturity for the best flavor.
