Trilisa odoratissima var. subtropicanus is a variety of Vanilla Leaf that is endemic to central Florida. It has stunning clusters of purple flowers that bloom in fall. It grows 2-4 ft tall and 1 ft wide. Plant in full sun to part shade and moist to average soil. Although Vanilla Leaf and Pineland Purple like moist soils, they do not tolerate inundation. It can tolerate drought once established, but may require watering during hot summer months.
