Softhair Coneflower, Rudbeckia mollis, is an annual related to Blackeyed Susan. The flowers are several inches across with yellow rays and dark cone disks. This drought tolerant plant will grow to several feet tall and it has an open growth habit. It prefers partial sun, but at least 4 hours for best growth and bloom. It is widespread in natural distribution in the U.S. and occurs naturally in Florida in central and north Florida. This is an underutilized wildflower.
