Intro to Birding!

April 11th 5:30PM-6:30PM

Free Registration

Wilcox Nursery’s yearly themes offer us a way to further connect with our customers, offering a new way to interact with our staff and learn more about what it means to ‘live in nature’. Each year, we pick a topic of environmental significance and delve into its different aspects to offer a depth of information that we hope will help guide our customers and the general public towards more sustainable landscaping choices. We aim to not only achieve this goal, but also to do so in a way that is fun and engaging. Please join us as we enter into Wilcox Nursery’s Year of the Bird!

This month’s program will introduce you to the world of birding: Birding 101, hosted by our resident birder and retail manager, Nikki! She will go over the basics of birding from field techniques and proper equipment, so if you are looking to learn how to get started with observing these wonderful creatures, this is for you!

November 2023 Mixer Recap: Caterpillar Connoisseurs

Learn about the next link in the food chain: Birds!

November was our last mixer with a theme topic, and this one was big! We spent the whole year talking about what makes caterpillars such an important part of both our natural and urban ecosystems, and now it is time to take the next step in our theme journey; birds! These beautiful creatures are more than meets the eye (which is quite a bit, mind you), and we will be spending 2024 focusing on the ins and outs of our feathered friends.

Why we care: Birds are vital to ecosystems and human well-being, serving as pollinators, seed dispersers, pest controllers, and cultural inspirations. They support ecological balance and biodiversity while providing an emotional connection to nature. By landscaping for birds, we can create habitats to conserve our biodiversity for the future.

Did you miss the program? Not to worry! We have a PDF of the presentation for you to download!
