Lead Plant False Indigo

Lead Plant also known as Bastard Indigo, Amorpha fruitcosa, is a wispy and unique open growing shrub that varies from 5 feet to 12 feet. It is winter dormant. The attractive and rich colored purple flowers are produce in spring and summer and result in a bean like seed pod. The flowers are lightly fragrant and attract a variety of pollinators. Lead Plant is also a larval plant for Silver Spotted Skipper and Southern Dogface Butterflies.
