Product Details

Pigeon Plum, Coccoloba diversifolia, is a native cousin of Sea Grape and natural hybrid Sea Plum, with small flowers in racemes. It is an upright shape with large, elongated, dark green, leathery, tropical leaves. They produce purple fruit on female plants. It grows in the 20 to 30 foot height range and becomes slightly spreading with age. This is a south Florida species that is easy growing in nearly frost free locations. Its upright shape can lend its use to screening and enclosure, or it can also be used as a small to medium specimen tree. It is drought and wind tolerant. The edible fruit is used for jams and wine and birds use the fruit on the female plants.
