Pomegranates, Punica granatum, are fruiting shrubs native to central Asia. They typically form a dense, bushy shrub between 6-12 ft tall, and are deciduous. They grow and produce best in climates with cool winters and hot summers. They need well-drained soil to thrive and are drought-tolerant once established. Pomegranates flower in the late Spring months and fruit later into Summer and even early Fall, though there are some early fuiting varieties.
