Pond cypress (Taxodium ascendens) is a deciduous 70-80 feet conifer with spreading branches and upright branchlets. The foliage is fine. The bark is light-brown and deeply furrowed. Similar to closely related Bald Cypress but generally smaller. Great tree for wet sites.
