Spicewood (Myrcia neopallens) is a south Florida plant that typically attains 15-20 feet in height. It is a small tree or large shrub with attractive dense foliage and a narrow crown. Its leaves are flat, covered with rusty hairs when young, dark green above, about 1-3 inches long. Plant in light shade to full sun and use it as an accent shrub or small tree in warm, nearly frost free areas in moist to average soils. Listed as Threatened by the state of Florida.
