Tall (Carolina) Elephant's Foot
Elephant's Foot, Elephantopus elatus, has broad basal leaves with rough feeling hairs. The flower stalks rise up to a couple of feet high. The understated pink to lavender flowers are backdropped by green bracts held in a flat flower head. Elephant's foot blooms in late spring through in to the fall. It attracts a variety of pollinators. It is tolerant of moist to dry conditions in sun to partial sun.
