A small, evergreen tree reaching 15-20 feet high. Fragrant, white flowers are followed by deep purple fruit that are edible for both humans and animals. New growth is deep purple, adding interest to the foliage. Prefers part shade to full sun and average to very dry soil. Larval host for Giant Swallowtail.
