Product Details

White Stopper, Eugenia axillaris, is a slow growing, handsome 10-18 ft. tall evergreen shrub or small tree with a slender trunk and very narrow crown. White flowers arise from leaf axils and are followed by 1/4 in. diameter berries ripening from green to black. The fruit is attractive to birds. Leaves are dark green and somewhat formal looking with red colored new growth on the tips of the branches. The plant is adapted to partial shade or sun and moist to dry soil. White stopper tolerates salt water flooding. White Stopper has a volatilizing oil that emits a musky aroma, especially in hot sun. Some people do not like the aroma, but it is an interesting effect.
