Pickerelweed
Product Description
Pickerelweed, Pontederia cordata, is a colony-forming, aquatic perennial, rising above water level up to a height of 3 ft. The attractive leaves are lance to heart shaped and have rounded lobes which distinquishes it from similiar Duck Potato, Sagittaria spp. The flower spike rises above the attractive foliage and holds showy violet blue flowers along the spike. Pickerelweed provides shelter and food for a diversity wildlife including invertebrates and fish and provides shoreline stabilization. The very showy flowers attract pollinators.
