Everglades Squarestem (Dwarf Salt & Pepper)

Pineland or Everglades Squarestem, Melanthera angustifolia, is a smaller, low growing and spreading plant that fits smaller spaces in gardens.

The course plant has hairs that make the stems and leaves feel rough. The anthers are white and black, hence the common name Salt & Pepper. Blooms through the warm months.

Established plants are highly drought tolerant and tolerant of salt air.

This plant is an incredible pollinator plant including a nectar plant for a wide diversity of butterfly species.
