Paurotis Palm or Everglades Palm, Acoelorraphe wrightii, is a clumping, multi-trunk palm which grows 15 to 30 ft. in height. Its leaves are fan shaped, green on both sides and 2-3 ft. long. The leaf stems are heavily armed. Its flowers are semi-showy and yellowish-green or white. Its fruit is reddish-orange, turning black. Native palms provide an important set of ecological benefits from pollinators and attracting birds to it's fruit. Paurotis Palms occur in the Everglades in the wild and are adapted to grow in moist to average conditions through out south and central Florida and has moderate salt air tolerance.
