Climbing Aster, Symphyotrichum carolinianum, is a perennial, woody stemmed, native vine. It climbs to 6-12 ft. or more, tangling on its own slender stems. Its leaves are simple, alternate and narrowly oval. Fragrant and beautiful lavender aster style flowers are produced in the fall. Great nectar plant for butterflies and other pollinators! Likes moist to wet soil and partial to full sun.
