Sand Live Oak, Quercus geminata, is a medium to large tree growing from 25 to 75 ft. with bark that is dark brown or black with scaly plates. The leaves are extra leathery and dark green with a silver underside. This is an upland species and is the better choice over regular Live Oak for properties that are very dry and deep drained. This is a species well adapted to salt air tolerance in coastal settings as well as inland settings. Sand Live Oak like Live Oak grows in picturesque form and has high wildlife benefits.
